Top Things to Bring on a Walk

With the weather getting (slowly) better you might find yourself heading out more often to go walking. Northumberland is in an abundance of atmospheric places to take a walk around and it can truly make for a pleasant day out. The only downside is considering what to bring with you so to make it easier we’ve narrowed it down to what we consider the top things to bring with you on a walk.

Good footwear

There is nothing worse then having sore feet when walking around and proper footwear can solve this. Investing in a good pair of hiking boots can decrease the amount of pressure your feet are absorbing but make sure to wear them in first! Couple good footwear with some nice thick socks and you are good to go.

Food and Drink

Whether rain or shine you are still bound to get hungry and thirsty depending on the amount of walking you are doing. You can counteract this by bringing along a lot of water to keep you hydrated and possibly even a small picnic to enjoy at a comfortable spot. Just remember to always clear up any litter when you are finished to protect the environment!

Adequate clothing

You might think that you can predict the weather but remember that the news can get it wrong and so can you. What could look like the beginning of a lovely sunny day can often turn into horrible showers. The best way to prepare is to bring a more organised range of clothing with you on your walk. If you bring a coat then you can always wrap it around your waist if you get too hot but it could save you from getting soaked if it rains. Keeping a cap and some shades on you can keep you protected if the weather suddenly gets a lot warmer.
