Christmas and New Year

Christmas is a magical period for all and Newcastle & Northumberland is not lacking in events to do, places to go and experiences to have.

Theatre & Performance
The end of year pantomimes and performances are not to be missed. With showings of Peter Pan, Jack & The Beanstalk and more to delight families. In the days leading to Christmas The Sage will be hosting their annual viewing of The Snowman, with live orchestra and choir it’s a great twist on a Christmas classic. Tyneside Cinema will also be showing “It’s a Wonderful Life”, another Christmas movie classic.

Life Ice Rink
Centre for Life has an outdoor ice rink set up that will be around until February. Open until 8pm it’s a great event for families and couples, get a combined ticket and visit the Science Centre at a reduced price.

Bauble Making
A little out of the way of Hedgefield House, but for that special gift it’s worth the trip, the National Glass Centre in Sunderland has a glass bauble making class. If you’d ever fancied having a shot with glass making this is an ideal opportunity, and presents that special bauble to hang from your tree with a story to go with it.

Kielder Winter Wonderland
Heading west from Hedgefield House and into Northumberland countryside, at the Kielder Water & Forest Park Christmas has landed. Visit Father Christmas and his elves in their workshop, go ice skating and snow tubing, and see one of the largest Christmas trees in England. An excellent trip for children and sure to add a dash of magic to their Christmas this year.
