MetroCentre

The MetroCentre is the largest shopping centre in the UK, with over 340 stores and restaurants. Divided into several Malls the MetroCentre offers an unparalleled shopping experience in the North East, if you’re wanting some retail therapy then this is the go to spot. Alongside the many shops there is also a 12 screen Odeon cinema and 18 bowling lanes at the Namco Funscape. Around the MetroCentre itself is the Metro Retail Park with a wide variety of super stores to buy from.

Located west of Gateshead the MetroCentre is easily accessible by both car and public transport. For car drivers you can arrive via the A1 and park up in one of the 10,000 free car parkings spaces. For public transport users there’s the Metro Interchange, with connections to and from many local travel hubs via bus and train. If you are driving by car keep in mind that traffic can build up quite heavily along the A1 stretch near the MetroCentre.

During the run up to Christmas MetroCentre also is open for longer, until 10PM on weekdays and 8PM on Saturdays. For the children there’s also a special someone who arrives in time for Christmas.
