Wallington

If you are looking to walk off those extra calories gained over the course of the Christmas period then Wallington might be the place for you!

Situated in Northumberland, Wallington is owned by the Trevelyan family and consists of an impressive house coupled with beautiful gardens. Outside of these gardens lie an abundance of woodland, parkland and lakes to explore. The Trevelyan family had a craving for the outdoors and when you visit Wallington you can certainly see why.

Wallington was eventually gifted to the National Trust back in 1941 by Sir Charles Philip Trevelyan who believed that everyone should be able to experience and enjoy this lovely piece of land. Since then it has been opened to the public to explore the various areas of the house and land outside.
As well as being able to walk around the various areas of Wallington there are other things to do such as being able to take a look around the house. If you have

kids you can go for a picnic in the grounds, set them loose in the adventure playground or explore the West Wood which is home to red squirrels and the ice house. Wallington also has its own café if you would prefer to eat in rather than bringing a picnic.

For both the young and old Wallington is a beautiful place to make a day of. One of the best features is that there’s so much to see so you can always make another visit. No matter how many times you come to Wallington it will always leave you wanting to return time and time again!
